I’m starting with myself.
I will try to understand.
I will educate myself.
I will accept how much I don’t know.
I will listen.
I will learn about myself.
I will learn about my privilege.
I will learn about the disconnect between our country’s leaders and its people.
I will make sure my kids know how I feel and let them come to their own conclusions.
I will not be quiet anymore.
I will try hard to say what I’m feeling with my vocal cords, not my keyboard.
I will be kind.
I will be respectful of others opinions.
I will learn why 65 million people voted for her and 62 million people voted for him and 90 million people didn’t vote for anyone.
I will remember the only thing I can control is myself.
I will try even more to understand.
I will stop with the outrage, and start with the action.
I will learn about the media and politics and bias and truth.
I will talk about how I just don’t know and that’s okay.
I will remember its not about him or her or them, its about us.
I will talk about the illusion of safety.
I believe we’re going to be okay.
I am brave and open-minded.
And I will greet fear every morning with a friendly tip of the hat.
Yes, girl.
