Messages

I carry my journal with me during the day and I write down thoughts as they come to me. I write down things I notice. I write down ideas. And I write down messages. I never called them messages before but now I can see that’s exactly what they are.

My schedule has been shifting recently and it feels like more time is opening up for me. It’s an adjustment. Old Pam would have worked really diligently trying to fill up that time with very important projects, i.e. organizing the basement. Newer Pam is using the time for her writing. When I say it’s an adjustment, I mean it feels strange. It feels like I’m getting a way with something. Like I should be doing something more productive.

Luckily I am very aware and have been practicing my noticing skills. Pam, this is what you have dreamed of doing and now it’s here right in front of you and you want to push it away.

So the messages are the antidote to my tendency to sabotage myself.

Pam, you are valuable and worthy. Your writing is valuable and worthy.

This is a whole new world, it’s going to take some time to get used to. Try to relax.

Remember to eliminate distractions.

There is a story waiting for you. A beautiful, interesting, fun story. It’s waiting for you to bring it to life. Enjoy it. Enjoy bringing it to life.

Thanks for reading today’s entry in my daily blog.  My goal here is to practice noticing. I try to write about small things and I try to keep it light. Sometimes I write about creativity or healing. And sometimes I write about my dogs or what I cooked for dinner. Writing daily here is a way for me to shine a light back on my life and help me see.

  1. That’s pretty awesome. I feel like journalling not only lets me vent, but it also allows me to listen to myself more. It’s great that you bring your journal with you everywhere. I myself find it a little unwieldy, but perhaps I could use a pocket notebook for thought-recording throughout the day. Thanks for this post, Pam!
