Christian has been watching The Great Pottery Throwdown. I think he’s finishing up season 2 now. He is very committed to this show. Tonight he said he’d like to make a coffee mug, but he doesn’t drink coffee. In fact, he very rarely drinks any kind of hot drink.
I’ve watched a few of the episodes with him and it really is a fun show to watch. I bring it up because there is one judge who I love so much. His name is Keith. I’ve just googled him and he is a British potter and ceramic designer.
When it is time to judge the contestant’s work, if Keith sees they’ve made something beautiful, he is brought to tears. He picks up the piece or pieces and feels them and examines them and he is so deeply touched by the creation, he gets overwhelmed with emotion.
When I watch him, I instantly have tears in my eyes. And he’s so right. Why wouldn’t we let this affect us so deeply? There is so much beauty in the world, waiting to be experienced. And when it comes from another person’s heart, of course it will touch us deeply. It’s what we’re here for. Thank you for the reminder, Keith.
Thanks for reading today’s entry in my daily blog. My goal here is to practice noticing. I try to write about small things and I try to keep it light. Sometimes I write about creativity or healing. And sometimes I write about my dogs or what I cooked for dinner. Writing daily here is a way for me to shine a light back on my life and help me see.
