Deer

We have a deer family that lives in the woods behind our house. Well, I don’t know if deer really live in one place. I think they travel a bit looking for food. But this one family keeps coming back. And the dogs can’t handle it. As I sit at my desk now, I can see the trees out my window. Many times I will see a dark body moving through those trees. It’s even easier to see when there is snow on the ground like today.

We woke up to a light dusting of snow and then it just kept on coming. We were all surprised at how much came down during the day. I’d say it ended up being about five inches here. Our town’s school superintendent was surprised too because she sent out an email explaining what goes into the decision to have a snow day.

The deer family is out there almost every day and the dogs love to sit at the edge of the woods and just bark and bark and bark. And the deer, they don’t change their pace one bit. They look up at the dogs, decide they’re not a threat, and then put their heads down and continue to eat.

I’ve been listening to the 1940’s channel on my car radio. Today, the music, combined with the snow, made it feel like December. It’s crazy because it was almost 70 degrees just two days ago.

Today I thought a lot about right brain/left brain, feminine/masculine energy, being/doing, yin/yang. These last few years have been a quieting of my left brain and an allowing of my right brain to do what it has always wanted to do. The whole world needs a quieting of the left brain, I think.

I read this today:
“The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.”
Albert Einstein

Thanks for reading today’s entry in my daily blog.  My goal here is to practice noticing. I try to write about small things and I try to keep it light. Sometimes I write about creativity or healing. And sometimes I write about my dogs or what I cooked for dinner. Writing daily here is a way for me to shine a light back on my life and help me see.
