Purple Ball

The boys are back in school after vacation. Christian is away for work. The house was very quiet today.

Lot’s of running the kids around after school. That’s pretty normal for this time of year. It’s just that it feels like a shock to the system after this past year of slowing down. The 80’s channel on my car radio is really providing me with lots of joy lately and today was no exception. Let’s Go Crazy by Prince. The Tide is High by Blondie. Eighties music has my heart. Now I understand why my dad always listened to 50’s and 60’s music.

As I was coming home after one of my trips into town, I spotted a large purple ball coming towards me in the opposite lane of traffic. You know those cheap plastic balls they sell in the giant bins at Walmart? Anyway, the ball was headed down the hill into town. It was just happily bouncing right down the middle of the lane. As I got further up the hill, I spotted the house where it most likely came from. And I realized at some point it must have turned a corner.

I imagined it making it down to the house of one of Wesley’s old friends who lives at the bottom of that hill. The grass slowed it down and it stopped at their swing set. And when the boys got home from school they found a new purple ball.

Thanks for reading today’s entry in my daily blog.  My goal here is to practice noticing. I try to write about small things and I try to keep it light. Sometimes I write about creativity or healing. And sometimes I write about my dogs or what I cooked for dinner. Writing daily here is a way for me to shine a light back on my life and help me see.
