This morning McFly woke up with sore hind legs. I’m not sure if he pulled something when he was outside yesterday, but the poor dog could barely get up off the couch when it was time to go out. He got lots of love from all of us today and fingers crossed, he’ll be better in the morning. McFly is our gentle and slightly anxious golden retriever. His sister is Gracie Lou, our basset hound and reigning queen of the castle.
Today was a day filled with chores and errands. I ended the day with a walk in the woods. I’ve been walking in the woods more and more over this past year. It’s become a reset. I feel luckier than ever to live where I live, on land my grandparents moved to in the 60’s. It’s only been recently that I’ve been able to fully appreciate the gift this place as been in my life. I played in the woods as a kid here and now I’m 44 and do the same.
Tonight we’ll have a cocktail or two to celebrate the new year.
