Little Luxuries

I went out for a few little walks today. Holy wind! When it’s like this, you can hear the wind start to come up in the woods. It builds up and gets really loud, coming closer and closer like a freight train. Later on in the afternoon it quieted down a bit. There were still a lot of creaking trees though. It’s quiet and you hear what sounds like a squeaky door, but it’s just a tree.

I am on week 6 of 12 of The Artist’s Way. This week, the book talks about little luxuries and how good they are for your inner artist. I realized, good, healthy food feels like a luxury to me. It was interesting to see that. So tonight, I made sure I spent some time cooking up a bunch of good food so I can have leftovers as the week goes on.

The news had a story about the director of the CDC’s concern about the rising Covid numbers in the US. She used the words “impending doom.” And this is why I’ve been trying to not watch the news.

I went out this afternoon and ran a bunch of errands. I came out of Home Depot only to see that on the passenger side door of my car, there was a giant penis drawn in the dirt, accompanied by the word “penis.” Yes, I’d been driving around all day with this lovely decoration. I knew it had to be Wes and his buddy’s artwork from the day before. I wiped it off and headed home. When I got out of the car at home, I realized there were multiple other penises on the drivers side as well. Just lovely.

Thanks for reading today’s entry in my daily blog.  My goal here is to practice noticing. I try to write about small things and I try to keep it light. Sometimes I write about creativity or healing. And sometimes I write about my dogs or what I cooked for dinner. Writing daily here is a way for me to shine a light back on my life and help me see.
