Gracie Lou went outside as the sun was coming up and saw the deer family that lives in the woods behind our house. She got so excited and barked and barked and barked. She couldn’t stop herself from barking. She just walked around the yard in circles barking at nothing. She’s a lazy hunter.

And then there was the news. Such immensely disturbing images of the U.S. Capitol. How are we going to come out the other side of all this? How does this all get better?
I headed out for walk in the woods.

What are you going to do?
I’m going to go home.
I’m going to go home to my warm house with food in the kitchen and clean water that comes out of the faucet. I’m going to go home to my family.
Thank you for it all.
What’s really going to help?
I’m going to stay peaceful inside. I’m going to stay peaceful inside of me and it’s going to pour out into my home.
I’m going to take good care of myself.
I’m going to keep reminding myself of what’s true.
I’m going to start with that.
Those aren’t small things.
